June Update

June is over and it’s almost time to hit the race track! The exams are done and following the tremendous effort that went into the Roll-Out, the team is keeping up the momentum the races approach.

Countdown to Competition

ZUR06 is coming together piece by piece, the car is now in the last stages of production. With the Technical Vehicle System Documentation (TVSD) now submitted, our focus has shifted to the final stages of bringing ZUR06 to life – finishing the accumulator, wiring, and completing the last elements of the aero kit are all actively progressing, alongside continued software development. Our next critical milestone is in the beginning of July, when we must submit the Vehicle Status Video to prove that we have built a functioning race car. And the sooner these remaining pieces come together, the sooner we hit the track. On the driverless front, after encountering a series of challenges we have made the difficult decision to withdraw from the driverless competitions at the upcoming races, the project remains very much alive, however, and this decision gives us the breathing room needed to further develop the system and make the most of it at Formula Student France.

Off the Track, In the News

The buzz around ZUR isn’t limited to the workshop. We’re proud to share that the team has been generating some well-deserved positive media attention lately – following our roll-out event, we landed on the front page of the Winterthurer Zeitung, and this week we received further coverage in Blick Auto, was well as a big story in the ZHAW employee magazine, a testament to the growing interest in what we’re building. Adding to that, two of our beloved former cars have found exciting new chapters: ZUR02 and ZUR03 have officially moved to their new homes at the Verkehrshaus der Schweiz in Lucerne and Tempodrom in Winterthur, where they’ll continue to inspire visitors and represent the legacy of our team. On the operational side, things are equally busy – the team is working diligently through race submissions for Cost & Manufacturing, fine-tuning our business plan presentation to put our best foot forward, and continuing to make steady progress on all aspects of race planning as competition season draws closer.
