DECEMBER UPDATE

PLENARIES AND PIZZA

December was a busy month! As we wrapped ZUR03 in gift paper, we made sure everyone got into the Christmas spirit just in time. It was both a productive and lively few weeks. During our first quarterly meeting of the season, the whole team came together for the first time since the start of the semester. We enjoyed interesting deep dives from all the subteams, including an aerodynamics session from the mechanics team that explored the equations used to calculate downforce and drag, alongside comparisons between graphs and the shape of our side pod. The electrics team followed with an overview of key components of the electrical system, giving insight into how the car communicates and how data is transferred. Operations and Finance highlighted the importance of strong partnerships and demonstrated how everyone can get involved. We finished the evening with our Christmas dinner – a big pizza party that brought everyone together.

TECHNICAL UPDATES

The Mechanics subteam received the new chassis in mid-December. While it is still bare for now, it’s exciting to see ZUR06 starting to take shape. To stay on schedule for the assembly phase, parts are being ordered and delivered to the workshop on an ongoing basis. Since then, molds for several aeropackage components and all attachments have been completed, and the dampers are now on hand. In addition, the steering rack has arrived. The next major deliveries include a significant portion of the wheel assembly and the pedal box.

The electrics side of the project is progressing well, with the accumulator cells ordered and finally on their way. Most PCBs are now completed, while the remaining concepts are being finalized. Soon, work will begin on converting ZUR05 back to all-wheel drive.
